Neither of them is a moral solution; abortion is the practical solution. If our generation doesn't start forcing abortion on society, the next generation or the one after that will. Either that or starvation and disease is inevitable.

you are assuming that the world is in fact overpopulated. It is not. There is still plenty of room on this planet for people to live and grow. The problem is shortage of food and corrupt governments that suppress Capitalism among other things. In america do you see a shortage of food? No in fact lots of it is wasted. In many 3rd world countries the issue is that they aren't given a chance to improve their lives, what they really need is help, guidance and good work. I think Contraceptive sex protection is a far better choice than abortion. I do think governments should NEVER forceful Sterilize or forcefully cause the abortions of anyone.

no it's not overpopulated. the only people who think that are those who have not travelled globally or have not taken a cross country road trip. the problem is that people congregate in cities piling on top of each other because that's where the jobs, restaurants, bars, and social events are....and humans are social creatures. however, if one were to drive, say from virginia to california, you would see that most of this country is beautiful wide open spaces full of forests, rivers, lakes, and all sorts of land. this world is most definitely not overpopulated and has more than enough resources for all of us.

Your question: "In this over populated world, which is the better solution: abortion or starvation? Over one billion people go to bed hungry every day now. Population growing very rapidly. What is the best solution?

Do you think sex education would help?"

Do you mean as it applies to you? If so, it goes like this:

    (1) Since you are already born, it is far too late for abortion. If you are pregnant, you will have to make up your own mind about that. (2) If you do not reproduce, that would be part of your solution. If you need sex education to figure out what that means, go ahead. Maybe you should read up on it just in case you missed something. (3) If you feel obligated to make room for other people, you can starve yourself. Again, you may have to make up your own mind about that, and maybe not. You may have no choice in whether you starve or not; that remains to be seen.

For other people, which is what you probably have in mind:

You need to take a look at the countries where the population growth is greatest and the socioeconomic and cultural demographics that go along with it. From there you can determine the probable outcome if you promote your schemas to them.

China once had a one-child policy except for the wealthy elite who control the country of course.

Nowadays China, Inc. has determined that the Chinese Communist Party can have less internal problems if they just attempt to colonize and exploit, intimidate competitors, and appropriate territory. Their relationship to the United States in that regard is just to buy it. They can also buy U.S. Treasury Bills from the government and get paid interest, something they have done for many years. The wealthy elite can have babies here and go back home, indoctrinate and socialize them in Chinese nationalism and other ethnocentric strategies, and then send them to the United States where they can promote the nationalist goals of the Communist Chinese Party.

Other countries resolving population issues by emigration to the United States, those to the south, that do not have as many wealthy elites who want to move, take advantage of the ethnocentric vote sellers with a race schema (La Raza). The votes buy favoritism for their particular ethnicity via legislation and control of government bureaucracies on a more local level, say by states, certainly in education.

None of these are akin to your population control schemas, however. It is basically just more group competition for resources, the general trend in mass human behavior. In the history of mass human behavior this has typically involved violent conflict. In more recent years in the United States (at least the last 40 years) varying degrees of ethnocentric favoritism has been purchased by those who can negotiate votes-for-favors deals with political hacks. Of course entrenched ethnocentric types can also impose blatant discrimination, and often do.

Another model to review is the mess in Iran where favoritism for Shia Muslims and discrimination against Sunni Muslims has become the norm in a corrupt government, so much so that their typically internal violent conflict has attracted international Jihadists (the Islamic State organization) to take advantage of the situation, attracting support from marginalized Sunnis who were formerly in the Iraq military or at least supported it.

There is almost no chance that you are going to get cooperation from ethnocentric and nationalistic competitors on the sort population control schemas you have proposed. At most some of the countries with mass peasant populations will be willing to distribute birth control and abortion services among those people.

None of is going to address these issues an any realistic way:

The world isn't over populated, that's just an anti-human liberal myth. The problem with food and water, is that some governments hoard it all for those in power, or whomever can pay the bribes. Killing babies and sex on demand isn't going to reduce the population.

The entire world population could stand shoulder to shoulder with the borders of California. The entire population could split the state of Texas into three sectors; residential, commercial/industrial, and agricultural, and all live in the state.

Warfare might be the best solution, because it will thin the heard as well as the technologies and factories.
