attorney advice/car accident.?
My 18 year old son tapped the back end of a truck 8 months ago. He had insurance at the time. He and the other driver exchanged insurance information. There was a police report made and no one got a ticket. No one was injured and everyone went on their separate ways. My son had 25,000/50,000 liability on his insurance. Now two days ago he is served with papers saying the man is sueing him for 75,000. He is terrified and do am I for him. It sounds like someone is on hard times and wants to sue him. My sons insurance company shows the claim a few months ago but hasn't done anything about it yet. We took the court papers to them and they are suppose to get back in touch with him next week. If any attorneys have any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

He's suing for 75,000? What for? Is that the value of his truck and it was a write off? From what you say your son just tapped him in the back. No way could he have caused that much damage. So is it pain and suffering for your son causing an accident? Oh poor man, how can you not feel for him, oh diddums, he must have been terrified. A court wouldn't look at it. Just leave it with your insurance company. That's what you pay them for. If he's not satisfied with the outcome from the insurance companies battling it out then let him take your son to court. He'll lose.

You don't need an attorney's advice because you need to let your insurance company deal with this issue. That's what you pay them for.
