To play gta 5 do you have to download all updates?

I just started with the whole xbox live thing I have my gold account and when I go to play online it says I need to download some things and it gives me 7 updates like The independence day special and the business update do I have to download all these before I can play online.

    yes or else you wouldn't be able to play with others who have the updates.
