Is it weird for a guy to write romantic novels?

As a writer I fine love to be interesting to write about, I've been working on a book but time from time I get story ideas for future projects and I'll just write them down. But I've notice recently a lot of ideal have been love type stories. Is it weird for a male writer to write love stories?

Nope. There are plenty of male authors of love stories. Writing is an art form, and as an artist you will create your best work when its something you truly enjoy. If its what you like and it's what you're good at, then theres nothing wrong with that. Don't allow society's stereotypes to hinder your creativity! Write on, my friend!

Not at all. If you find love so fascinating and you would like to project it in words or on paper, then write it. As writers, as artist, we're going to be a little weird.

  • Not at all. Stories are the creative expressions of a person. I don't think they are based on the gender of the author. So if you think you can write good love stories you should.

Not at all! Nicholas Sparks pretty much holds a record for writing popular romantic stories. Shakespeare. Pure romance novels written by women are hardly ever read because they're too sappy, emotional, and/or stereotypical. Take advantage of your testosterone and write them well!

It would be weird if men did not experience love! Shakespeare wrote about it, so did many writers before him. What about the love interest in the works of 19th century authors such as Trollope and Dickens? Thomas Hardy? Good grief D H Lawrence!

Why would it be weird? Is there some law that says men aren't allowed to write romance?

Write whatever you want to write.

No. I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of romance writers are men

I don't really understand how it would be weird. I don't care about the sex of the author, just how good their work is.

Of course not, look at Nicholas Sparks. Good Luck with your stories.
