Why is the Queen of England on the Canadian $20 bank note?

I was watching a video on YouTube about Bank Note Counterfeiting, which was uploaded by the Bank Of Canada.

http://youtu.be/Mr1kk7cGbus

At 3:23 in the video, it shows a $20 note that has the Queen Of England on it.

I was just wondering why she is on the Canadian note and if somebody could tell me, as I live in England and I'm curious about it.

Thanks.

Canada is a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. That's why she's on there.

Seriously? Canada is still a member of the Empire, er, Commonwealth. There are still a LOT of countries that are technically under British influence.

You're part of the commonwealth. Our queen is your queen.
