Can someone fill me in on this case about Michael Brown shooting up in St Louis?
I heard he was involved in a store robbery and then got into a fight with a cop.
Does anyone have more details. The media is not being clear.

More info keeps slipping out bit by bit. The latest timeline seems to be : (The first part is not in debate. I will indicate where stories differ)
1) Michael Brown, with a friend, Dorian Johnson, rough up a store clerk and steal a $50 box of cigars from 'QuikTrip".
2) Officer Darren Wilson, returning from an unrelated medical call, sees Brown and Johnson walking down the middle of the street. He pulls up next to him, rolls down the window, and tells him to get on the sidewalk.
3) As Brown turns toward the sidewalk, a call comes over the radio about the QuikTrip robbery. Wilson sees the cigars being carried by Brown, and calls for him to wait. He then begins opening the car door. Brown shoulders the car door closed before punching Wilson in the face through the open window, breaking the bones around his eye socket. Brown then tries to seize Wilson's gun. They struggle, and a shot is fired inside the car. No-one is hit by this shot.
4) After the shot, Brown withdraws from the car and runs. Wilson gets out of the car, gun drawn, and pursues him. He calls for Brown to stop. Brown stops, and turns to face Wilson.
Up to this point, everyone has the same story. It is at this point that they differ.
5(a) Dorian Johnson says that after stopping and turning to face Wilson, Brown raised his arms and said something to Wilson along the lines of "OK, I give up, don't shoot", at which point Wilson raised his gun and shot him.
5(b) Wilson says that after Brown stopped and turned to face him, he ordered him to kneel, at which point Brown said something like "Or what? You'll shoot me?", and then, as Wilson approached, dropped his head and charged him, causing Wilson to shoot him.
Johnson and at least two other witnesses support the "He had his hands up" story, although one of them was unknowingly recorded on a cell phone video giving the 'hands up' story to a TV reporter and then, just moments after, telling the "He charged the cop" story to a friend. The police claim to have "over a dozen" eye witnesses supporting the "He charged the cop" story.

They say he wasn't armed but he was he proved it when he robbed the store .He used his body as a weapon to rob the store that is why they call it strong arm robbery. So he chose his weapon and he tried to use it against the police. He was just a thug using his size to push people around. And another thing Dorian Johnson was with him when he robbed the store why is he not in jail? Why is his step father not in jail for inciting a riot? What do they have black man get out of jail free cards. The lesson learned here is if he would have listened to the police officer and got on the sidewalk and not confronted the officer he would be alive today. He did rob a store, assault the store owner, assault a police officer more than once. And they want to make a Michael Brown day give me a break! Celebrate a criminal.

1) Michael Brown robs convenience store and escapes
2) Officer sees Brown walking in the middle of road and stops him to tell him to move to the sidewalk
3) ACCORDING TO OFFICER: Brown attacked officer and tried to reach for gun, officer shoots Brown in self defense. ACCORDING TO RIOTERS: Brown was unarmed and the officer shot Brown while he was surrendering.
eye witnesses have come forward supporting both sides of argument. theres a youtube video out there somewhere showing the immediate aftermath of the incident and in the background of the video you can hear an eyewitness talking to some other guy and plainly says Brown was rushing at/attacking the officer.
Autopsy came back showing brown was shot 6 times in the front of his body. 4 in the arm, 2 in the head
now there's a lot of riots happening with rioters claiming racism/police brutality/excessive force as the cause of the shooting.

The sheriff said he was stopped for jaywalking, not for any robbery.
