At&t home internet/wireless/modem/hotspot??

Hi.

I am very confused.

I live out in the country where there is terrible internet. i have been searching lately for an alternative source of internet. as of right now, i have the at&t mifi device. it has good speeds, but it has a 30gb data cap which is not enough for my family and it has terrible range.

a few days ago, i received a letter in the mail from at&t advertising their high speed internet for only $14.95 a month. So i called at&t and asked them if i could get internet at my house and they said yes. the person on the phone was unspecific as to whether it was DSL or what. she said it was wireless and that they would need to get me a modem.

here is the website that was on the letter:

att.com/deal0440

i have no clue what kind of internet they are trying to provide me with, but if someone else can look at it and interpret it, that would be great.

aslo, if you could tell me if this internet is any good. i do some online gaming and watch a lot of youtube. and my parents just do emails and stuff. is this internet fast enough and good enough for our uses?

Thank you.

Yes, it's (most likely) DSL. AT&T products are "DSL-based" since they only have phone lines to play with. Their best offering, U-verse, is (in my opinion) a very High-Speed form of DSL. But at $14.95/month, I don't think you're getting cable.

Who knows? I've been wrong once or twice before...

    ------------

Update: I went to the link you posted and here's what I see:

    There are 3 DSL plans:

    - Basic @ $20/month -- Max Speed: 768 Kbps

    - Pro @ $30/month -- Max Speed: 3 Mbps (up to 4 times faster than Basic)

    - Elite @ $35/month -- Max Speed: 6 Mbps (up to 8 times faster than Basic)

Their "1st deal" @ $15/month gives you Pro-plan Internet access *IF* you bundle phone service with AT&T *AND* it lasts for 1 year. Then the normal price begins.

Their "2nd deal" @ $20/month gives you Elite-plan Internet access *IF* you bundle phone service with AT&T *AND* it lasts for 1 year. Then the normal price begins.

Both deals have a data cap of 150 GB before extra charges kick in. Sounds like a pretty good deal for the first year. Maybe by then a cable company will have put some lines in your area.
