My mail STILL says,,7,000, thosand messages,,I've tried everything,,Basic mail too--HELP,,PLEASE..?

Do not use Basic Mail if you want to mass delete. You have to be using full featured mail to do that. If you are using Basic Mail there should be a link at the top right so you can switch to full featured. Just check the box at the top left to select all and then hit delete.
