Budgie name ideas?
I have a new violet/grey male budgie with a while spot behind his head & yellow cheeks.
I was going to name him Spot or Thor but my hubby wasn't a fan. So we've decided to call him Pidgey but I'm not sure the name suits him.
Any ideas?
As a side note, any tips for keeping my curious kitties away from the cage at night?

Personally I find high class English names funny for birds. Montgomery and Chesterton are what I named my budgies. I have some other names too:
Oliver
George
Aries
Otto
Charlie
Maximus/Max
Wesley
Jeremy
Preston
My creativity ran out.....
As for keeping your cats away, try to keep him in a room where they can't get to him by shutting the door, and have a birdcage cover to cover him at night. the cover may also provide the bird with comfort and security. So even if the cats can get through the closed door, which probably won't happen, (unless they are magic) they won't see the bird behind the cover and might not be interested. Hope this helped!

I have 2 budgies and a parakeet. there names are Baby, Lucky, and Lindbergh. Baby go her name because I was to young to be creative. I named Lucky because when I got him his wings and legs were broken and he was lucky to survive. And Lindbergh was named after the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh. I would suggest naming him once you know his personality.
As for keeping the cats away from him I would suggest covering his cage with a blanket of sheet at night, this will also teach him that when the blanket goes on its time to sleep and will make him feel saver

You could place the cage in different room and close the door so the kittens will not enter.
Hope it helps. Good luck with your new budgie.

Budge.
And for your side question, try putting something there that will deter them, e.g. something that shows their reflection to deter them.
