How much fencing is needed for the second garden? explain your reasoning?

Two triangular gardens have the same size and shape. The landscaper needed 24 feet of fencing for one garden.

IF the two triangular gardens have three sides of equal length, AND the two gardens share one side - then each side of the triangle is 8 feet (24 feet divided by three), so the second garden, if you're only needing to fence two of the three sides, would need 16 more feet of fencing to close it in.

If the triangles are not equilateral, then there's not enough information to answer the question.

If the two triangles are "the same size and shape" they will obviously have the same perimeter (hence the same amount of fencing).

The only exception would be if the gardens will be sharing a side (or a part thereof). In that case, the fencing needed for Garden 2 would be the amount of fence needes for Garden 1 less the length of the shared portion. But it that case we don't have enough information to answer the question.

Source(s): I guess its also possible that either of the gardens could be sharing fencing with another unnamed garden, but assuming this is a math question, I suspect your are supposed to assume otherwise.

The second garden is full of Devil's Head bushes and Poison Ivy, so no fencing is needed.
