Trying to decide what bill I need to pay.?
I've had a lot a financial problems this year. It all started when my husband was out of work for 5 months due to unexpected illness. And I was the only one bringing in income, supporting 3 people. Well as soon as he went back to work, we paid our car taxes. Then we found out that the state issued a new law where you now have to pay ahead. So then they said we would have to pay next years taxes to get new tags. So our plan was to do it the next week. Then our refrigerator went out. So we had to get another one. then the next week we had someone break in our home. So we had to pay to fix the door. So two weeks ago our water heater went out. So now here we are needing to update our tags still. Well I took a class last semester. I finished the first part. And now the second part of the class is coming up. The class I'm taking will allow me to get a better paying job with higher pay and better hours. That way we could be in a position where even if my husband were to get sick again, I would make enough where we would be okay. I can get in this class or wait another 30 days to enroll in the second part. I know both things are important. So I have 2 options. 1) Take the money and pay for the class. I would be done 30 earlier and be able to get a higher paying job. And then get my car stuff done the following pay check. . 2) Pay for the stuff that needs to be done to my car, and wait 30 days to get in my class. I am between a rock and a hard place.

I would pay for the things that need to be done to the car. Leaving your car without tags will get you a ticket if you're caught, and it sounds like you really can't afford something like that. Since you only have to wait a month to get in your class, fix your car first--keep it legal so you can avoid the exorbitant expense of a ticket. You probably won't be offered a better paying job right after finishing the class anyway (unless you have some kind of agreement with your current job?).

You'd better go with choice 2. The reason for this is that you have already had a lot of misfortune all at once. With the luck you have been experiencing, you will be stopped by the police for expired tags some time during that 30 days and have a whole new set of financial setbacks to deal with. Render unto Caesar first and you are covered.

Take care of the car issues. If you end up getting tickets that don't get paid on time, you could wind up with a suspended license and have late fees posted to the tickets, and in turn you'd end up with higher car insurance rates.

i don't think a class that you take in 30 days will get you that much higher pay
