Career choices?

Hello everyone i just wanted to say that my gcse results were not too bad but i have been allowed to do A-level Maths Statistics and have been offered to do BTEC Business Studies Double course and this person I know who is doing A-levels said to me that BTEC is for dumb people and you cannot get into a good university if you want to. Is that true or not? Also I have in mind that i either want to be an accountant or an investment banker but i am not sure if i will get into that career can anyone let me know any good career choices which would be ideal with my subjects and the salaries.
