Is the XM radio that comes with the car free?

I just bought a used 2007 Civic and it has a navigation and it says XM on it. I checked the XM stations and they work!

I was wondering if XM is permanent on the car or if there is a subscription and it will soon cancel in the future?

    When the previous owner discovers they are still being charged for it, it will stop. Then you can open your own account.
