Replacing xbox 360s DVD drive?
Do consoles get banned for replacing there DVD drive even if its the same model? My brother updated his 360 and mid update it turned off or froze then he unplugged it. now whenever i turn it on it trys to instantly update and fails. ive looked up the error code and tried the fixes nothing helps. I copied the update to a USB drive and to a disc it actually tries to update but always fails. So i figure I can either flash the drive or get a new one. Just trying to figure out if a new dvd drive of the same model will eventually get me banned? Thank you

Why would u even want to replace anything in a xbox 360, it costs like 50 pounds to get a new one lol

Yes you can. But its not easy. Take the old one out and hook it to your pc. Then find a program to read the key. Its easy to find on google. Save that key and make sure the new drive is unlocked. Program the new one with the key and firmware. You can also program it to play back up games ;)
