Are UK house spiders getting bigger?

Last night there was a huge house spider in my bedroom and when I say huge I mean huge. This has been the biggest house spider I've seen so far, It was as big as my hand like those ones you see in a pet shop or zoo. I could not believe what I was seeing, anyhow this spider freaked me out so much I attacked it with a can of fly spray but unfortunately it got away and its now hiding some where in my flat. I looked up house spiders on Google images just to make sure that what I saw was a house spider and not another species due to its unusual size. Is there a way to repel these horrible creatures from coming in to my home?

If I do manage to find this spider, I will capture it in a jar and put it on youtube

So the question is: How do I repel spiders from coming into my home?

I offer an alternative that will harm only the spiders.

Spiders can be killed with salt water.

To rid an area of spiders, simply mix 4 tablespoons of coconut oil with 8 ounces of white vinegar and put into any spray type bottle and spray wherever you see spider webs or where they might be coming in from. The spiders hate the aroma of coconut and stay away. Obviously, if area is subject to the weather, you must re-apply after each rainfall. You should re-apply every 3 to 4 months as it does loose potency with time.

Wal-mart has a 31 ounce container of coconut for less than $10.00.

Coconut oil is usually in a solid form, so you will need to microwave a few seconds to melt it and use up right away or it might plug up your applicator bottle.

I have been using this method for over twenty years and there are no spiders in my house and nothing harmful to any life form.

there are no spiders in the uk as big as your hand ..when i was working in the banana sheds down southampton ..plastering them ..i saw 100s of spiders and snakes come in with the banana`s ..spiders wont harm you ..do more good than bad ..just give them a bit of chicken ..only one leg will be enough!
