What are some good places to see in San Francisco that are cheap?

Update:

Serious answers only please. We require the best attractions to see in San Francisco. Where are the best eating places that are reasonable for overseas travellers?

Golden Gate Bridge (if it isn't too foggy--sometimes the fog is so thick you can't even see the bridge)--you can walk across to the other side and walk back and it's free to walk, stop in the middle to look at the islands, see if any whales are swimming by.

Golden Gate Park is free, on a nice days it's lovely although we are in a drought and they've cut way back on watering so you'll see more underwatered plants than usual. You will have to pay to get into any of the museums or the tea garden, but you can walk around the park for free. I think the buffalo paddock is still free just to walk up and look at them.

You can ride the cable cars, especially the one that goes from Powell Street up to Fisherman's Wharf but it will be $7 per person. You can also get to Fisherman's Wharf on a trolley you catch on Market St. (or the Embarcadero if that's closer) which will cost you $2.25 (starting Sept 1) per person. Walking around Fisherman's Wharf is free if you can resist buying everything (I admit I eat my way through Fisherman's Wharf 'cause I LOVE crab and shrimp). The Cannery is a block or so away and that too is free to walk around and Gharidelli Square (however that's spelled) is close too, also free to walk around. All of these are right along the Bay side so you can walk down close (but not in) the water, there's this long pier I think you can still walk out on. And from there you can walk (or take the trolley again) back up to Market St. and Embarcadero to go to the Ferry Building. There's a Farmer's Market in front of the Ferry Building on Saturday, and little shops inside the Ferry Building, all free to go have a look see. If you take the Powell St. cable car (see above) you can get off at Lombard St. (crookedest street?) and walk up or down it--you can no longer drive it but you can walk it for free. You can also walk through Chinatown on Grant St. And Chinese food is pretty inexpensive. Below is a list of when some of the museums around town are free (don't you just LOVE that word? just rolls off the tongue so well). You can walk Haight Street for free--although just beware of your wallet/purse/electronics at all time. It's no longer the peace, love, happiness place and a lot of people hanging there are swindlers and thieves, pick pockets, etc. If you are going to spend any money, I'd probably go to Alcatraz, nice boat ride on the Bay and the prison is interesting (perhaps you'll even see ghosts); they have a night tour too! As far as cheap eats, look for food trucks--best eating and they usually aren't too expensive since you eat outside and don't usually have a table or wait service. Many Mexican taquerias have inexpensive good food. The eating part would be easier if you'd narrow it down to what kinds of food you like--there's a lot of food in town and it ranges from buy-stuff-at-the-supermarket-and-make-your-own to high end "designer" meals. Might want to try Fog City Diner--I haven't been but people highly recommend them. You can get a whole bunch of recommended places by search www.yelp.com for San Francisco--the locals like to voice their opinions (and many also post pictures of the food).

Maybe if you were a bit nicer in the way you asked the question you would get better responses.
