does this mean my dog getting old?

My dog is a Maltese. He gets where he stands around in one place and stirs like in one area. He also starting to use the potty more in the house then outside. He can't barely go down the steps outside anymore. We had him since 2004. Long story behind him. He came to us.

At around 10 to 11 years old ( given he was 1 yr or under when you got him? ) then he is a senior. Senior dogs do tend to require a wellness exam 2-3 times a year now to see how he is doing, if anything new has popped up thats a concern and all of that stuff. Take him outside more often and if need be then lay down potty pads in the areas he goes frequently. As for stairs it might be a nice idea to carry him up and down them. If he has any arthritis going on in those joints then something simple like stairs can be a daunting and uncomfortable task. All the luck to you and your beloved four legged best friend! :)

Well, he is 10, which isn't THAT old for a smaller dog, but he is a senior.

Has he been to the vet for a senior wellness check? If not, that would be a good idea.
