They are essentially the same bike, just a little bit different cosmetically.
The better buy is the one that suits your wants and needs best from a motorcycle but no one version will be the better buy for all riders ( that is why Honda offers 3 different version of the same bike...the two you mentioned plus the CB500R ).

The X is a lot more popular, to me it looks cooler and you can add farkles to it like luggage and different widescreens and such. It also has a slightly more upright seating position.

They are the same bike with different body work, handlebars and seats.

It depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Performance on all three is essentially identical.
