Betta in not fully cycled 3g tank?

Update:
Update 2:

It has a Tetra Whisper 3i Filter and a Air Stone that makes bubbles.

Update 3:

I have been cycling it for 3 weeks exactly. My mom says it's just wasting electricity and it doesn't even have fish. I told her it wont raise the bill a lot but she doesn't care. So it's either taking it down or getting a betta.

Update 4:

Also would he be okay with an air stone?

Update 5:

And I got a rock from outside when I started up the tank and I washed it 2x and I put it in there.... Is it safe?

How are you cycling the tank?

If it's just running empty, then it's not cycling, and you are wasting your time. The cycle needs ammonia to start, either from the fish, or something you have added. Liquid ammonia / fish food etc.

Or, if you have been feeding the tank, then you need to be testing the water. It may be toxic if it's 1/2 way though it's cycle. (all that ammoniis still in the water). If you have been doing a proper fishless cycle, then you should have water test results to know if the water is safe. If you NEED to put a fish in there, and the water is toxic, change most if.

1 - first suggestion - It's your tank, run it the way you want, and ask your mother to leave it alone. .

2 - if it's easier to get a fish, then add your betta and do some extra water changes while the cycle completes. It's a betta, it will survive.

Is the rock safe? Probably, but I don't know what sort of rock it is. Some will affect the tanks PH, and others may evern release metallic salts into the water. I use "found" rocks in all my tanks, by they are usually local volcanic basalt, inert and tank safe.

Air stone shuld be fine. If it makes too many bubbles you can buy a small valve to restrict the air flow and slow things down.

    Good Luck

Bettas are very hardy and more likely than any fish to survive a cycle. Get a fish tht seems bretty healthy and responsive. Dont forget to acclimate it to the water , not just the temperature, which may mean you need a bag or other container.

Never do a full wter change or you will likely lose the cycle. do 2-3 20-35% water changes a week for 3-5 more weeks , than the tank should be cycled, so you can go back to weekly partial changes.

An air bubbler is not required, but should night bother the betta that much. Though it might tske some getting use to.

A lot of rocks from outside should be safe, especally if you clean it and sand down any sharp edges. Certain types of rock might chnge the ph in the tank.

Seeding a tank/filter is when you add a source of ammonia, "grocery store shrimp, fish food, pure ammonia, used filter cartidge from a cycled tank..." To encourage the healthy bacteria to come in and start cycling the tank.

Okay.. I'm the person who asked the question but it wont let me do more updates so...

    1) Is the rock safe?

    2) Will my betta be okay in there?

    3) Will he get annoyed by the air stone? It cost me 30$ so I wanna use it.

The water used to be cloudy but now it looks a lot more clear. BTW I used gravel and 2 plants from a

cycled aquarium. So Is that considered seeding?

EDIT: Ianab, I'm adding fish food and some algae wafers to create ammonia.
