Suffering a chest cough for over 8 weeks now.?

Okay, I was incredibly sick with this dry chest cough for about 4 weeks straight, my mother gave me a puffer to help during the night.

Then when I thought I was getting better, I get a different chest infection and my cough became phlegmy. I've been to the doctor twice, he said that there's nothing that can be done even with antibiotic.

It's now week 8 & I'm still coughing heavily, phlegmy and I have moments where I gasp for air before getting into a coughing fit.

I'm not coughing blood or anything unusual if that helps?

So far, I assumed that my immune system was very weak then, & I got two chest infections in a row.

Update:

I got given antibiotics but I found that it's not doing anything better for me.

First, I'd get another doctor. And don't tell that you already saw somebody else. That screws them up. Oh, and never mention the internet to a doctor.

When I had something like that, the doc gave me something to stop the coughing and prescription expectorant cough syrup to get rid of the phlegm.

I got antibiotics too, but you should at least be allowed to have the other things.
