Most ridiculous liberal academia story?

Update:

Just curious as to what your most ridiculous experience from liberal academia has been.

Last week, our English teacher gave us an article talking about how we need to expand food stamps, how the rich keep all their money and don't give to the poor, how we need to stop worrying about abortion, and how it doesn't matter whether or not we can pray in schools,. I objected to all of it, adding that the rich give the most DOLLARS , not percentage of income, but actual dollars to the poor, and she

Update 2:

said that that was "false". Seriously? It's basic math. Someone that makes billions of dollars contributed more to charity than someone who makes 50k a year.

That was probably the most liberal article we've ever had.

Either present both sides of the argument, or none at all.

I believe that she was most likely talking it percentage of income made. Yes, the upper class will be able to give more money to charity than the poor, but they don't give nearly enough. And how about the poor starving without enough to eat? The people with the most money should be paying more to the government to provide them with housing and food instead of adding onto their mansions or buying a new sports car.

I had a female (Public Speaking Course) instructor who said we should try not to offend others. That is the most liberal thing that anyone has said to me in my 14-15 years experience with public school and, Community College education.

I am presuming that you have never read The Parable of the Widows Mite.

I'll just give the moral of the story.

"Verily I say unto you she has given more than all of you combined. For she gave out of her need. While you gave out of your abundance."

I don't have any, but I did have a marketing professor who periodically went on rants about how stupid Castro was. I didn't really care what he thought, but it irritated the heck out of me that he wasted almost an hour of class time with that junk. Hey, I was paying for the class. I wanted value from it.

As for your whine about your professor, since you didn't define "rich," your complaint amounts to a difference of OPINION, not of fact.

By the way, it makes sense that the top one percent pay more taxes dollar for dollar, since they have 40% of the wealth.

The rich (especially hedge fund managers) also in many cases pay fewer taxes PERCENTAGE-WISE, which DOES NOT make sense. Don't you think we should do something about that?

I had an English professor who bumped into walls a lot. He wasn't a liberal though.

Academics are highly intelligent, highly educated and skilled, but work in a profession where they are not well paid, but they help other work towards their goals. Expecting them to be conservative is like expecting stock brokers to be liberal- it's just not in the nature of the job.

One of my colleagues has won awards for working towards a cure for cancer. Is that ridiculous enough for you?
