Should the term "mental illness" not be used to label people who feel suicidal due to unbearable stress?
....as opposed to depressed/suicidal people who feel suicidal due to chemical imbalances in their brain.
To me, it just seems wrong labelling someone as "mentally ill" because they are overwhelmed with unbearable stress from real life-damaging problems as opposed to those who are suicidal because of an actual disorder in their brain/mind.

I don't think it's fair. Being suicidal and depressed myself, it always hurts a lot worse when someone refers to being this way as being mentally ill. It's more like being more susceptible to mental pain than being ill. You can't catch depression or get to be suicidal from not washing your hands. Being this way isn't being ill. So no, I don't think it should be used to label suicidal/depressed people.

depressed and suicidal people sounds a lot worse than mentally ill to be honest but that's just my opinion... its just what our society has adapted to say to someone who has been feeling that way and I dont see anything wrong with it. Again my opinion.

definitely, in fact everyone has mental illness to an extend, it not right to label people that, especially for people that are depressed.

Don't judge someone until you've lived their life and mindset
