Need help with the title of this sci-fi I can't remember, please.?

The book is sort of a space opera, the best I can remember. It's been some years. But human travelers come into contact with spherical beings the size of Jupiter and when they finally establish contact, the creatures tell the humans that they like to spin stars into galaxies for fun and to make art in space. The mind blower is that the humans learn they are talking to their gods, however childlike they are.
