Guys, why would you text a girl gmorn and gnight with X's and O's but never get together with her?

This guy is texting me every day as I mentioned, no real conversation, just once in awhile he will say "Hope you had a good day." I see him through my job a couple times a week but he never brings up us getting together but still will text me. I am very confused because I have always thought that when someone likes you they want to spend time with you. Am I wrong, am I overthinking this? Please be kind and I appreciate your help. TY

    Make the first move if you find any attraction towards him. He is shy.

    He's being silly and childish OR he is married or committed to another girl without telling anyone about that. Happens all the time so...

    Maybe he is a lot less confident in person than he is over the phone.
