Did Joe Root's innings play a vital factor in England's victory against India in their previous match?

He and Jos Buttler buttressed the whole team's collapse at 117 for 4 wickets already down. His 113 and Buttler's 49 contributed a great deal in England's mammoth 294 for 7.

Though if not,do you think it would of been an Indian victory?

It was the biggest contribution by an English player, not just in the final ODI but whole of the series as well.

So that made a big difference in India chasing a 250+ score for the 1st time & they also failed for the 1st time in the series. So his innings was the deciding factor for sure.

Cook, Buttler played good hands & Stokes provided the impetus to the innings with a quick fire 33 off 23 balls. So overall it was a good batting effort, which put India under pressure with their biggest target of the series.

Had Rahane & Dhawan stayed together for a while, it could have been different but England got regular wickets, never let India settle down & won comfortably in the end.
