Do we still have access to the American Dream?

the American Dream is a slogan, not a specific set of criteria. If what you are asking, "is it possible to find some measure of success and stability in the US?", the answer is yes, it is not easy, but it never was.
It requires work, intelligence, some luck, and there is no guarantee of success, but good paying jobs abound, houses are affordable, crime is lower than it's been in decades, so are interest rates. but none of that is a guarantee either.

I'm living the dream boy, you got to work for your success it only took me 15 years to live in a 385 thousand dollar home and im about to move in to a larger house soon just make Shure you go to collage. You can also become famous and get a lot of money but that's harder then you think

Certainly but the American Dream of today is not the same as it was say 50 or so years ago. On the other hand it may be easier to get the dream if you don't mind paying for it with minimum payments, then at the end your dream will be but an illusion.

Not if you think the American dream knocks on your door and wakes you up from the nap on the couch

Depends entirely on you and what your dream is.
I think I've made my version of the Dream. My wife and I have built a solid small family in a modest mortgaged home. Our children are of good character. I have enough set aside to leave them something when I pass on. One or two youthful small dreams were met possession wise.
Your Life and America is what you make it. We're not yet under the thumb of a Great State that chooses and selects for you. Make your Dream.

I don't really know what it is anymore. I think that we are far from the original vision of what the American Dream is though, living in a country with numerous problems.

I think it's going to be a little harder than it was for my generation but it is still obtainable. The other problem will be how they deal with all the tens of Trillions of dollars of debt. I hope the answer isn't inflation because that will wipe us Baby Boomers out. I still believe hard work, saving and sacrifice will still provide the American Dream for those young people today willing to put in the effort and persistence it will require.

perhaps more importantly.... is attaining that dream even encouraged anymore?
...is it seen as something earned or something to be demanded?

I can only afford to put 5 bucks in my tank at a time. But I can still afford that new car SMELL.
