The direct affect would be some people get a raise.
The knock on affect would be those merchants that decide that they can not afford to stay in business while paying these wages.
The invisible affect is the opportunity costs... those people who never start a business because they decide it is not worth the risks, especially with at this higher level of minimum wage.
