Orange light when I plug Ethernet into router?

I have been using an Ethernet cable to directly connect my Xbox to my router for years.. I've always had great connection, and a green light. Recently though I've been getting kicked off xbox live due to the internet cutting off suddenly, only to be able to connect right back into xbox live. I reset my router and I noticed the light isn't green anymore, it's orange.. No idea why? I get kicked off xbox live every 30 minutes at night but if I play during the day I don't really get kicked off at all. So I am clueless here.

Also my router is in my basement and the Ethernet cable is run straight up through the floor to my room into my xbox, don't know if that means anything. Like I said I've had this for 3+ years and I'm just now having a problem.. And I don't know what it could be

Orange means that you are getting a slower connection, either 10 mbps or 100 mbps depending on your router's ability. The green light meant you are getting the fastest from the router - either 100 mbps or 1000 mbps. I suspect that your ethernet cable has been damaged. It could also be that the port on either the router or PC is damaged. Monoprice.com has excellent cables for a very good price.
