    First: work out the difference between the two numbers you are comparing. Then: divide the increase by the original number and multiply the answer by 100. If your answer is a negative number then this is a percentage decrease.

    Set up and solve a proportion

    5265.5/5940=x/100

    cross multiply and set equal

    5940x=5265.5*100

    divide by 5940

    88.64 percent of the original

    so it is a 11.36% decrease
