Any good heavy metal suggestions?

I'm not too familiar with the genre and I've always been a hip hop head. But I wanna try some new music out. Thanks

If you like the hip hop genre probably try some nu-metal to start with, or bands like Biohazard, Hatebreed, Bodycount (fronted by Ice Cube). Nu-metal bands such as Limp BIzkit (Three Dollar Bill Y'all), Korn (Follow the Leader), Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory), Papa Roach (Infest) etc. might be good bands to start your journey with (and still keep some hip-hop elements).

Rage Against the Machine are a great band too (their Renegades album is full of covers, including such diversity at EPMD, Eric B. & Rakim, Cypress Hill, Bob Dylan, etc.) Their lead singer had a heavy hip-hop influence (which comes out in their sound too).

Other more mainstream metal bands such as System of a Down, Slipknot etc. may also be more to your liking (Slipknot's first two albums were more nu-metal than their later offerings, although their new album might revert back to that sound).

Iron Maiden is always a good choice; they have been a metal band for nearly 40 yrs now with a following that has filled out the largest stadiums in the world... with Zero airplay on radio.

You can google some more info, or check out some life stuff on youtube. I would recommend Number of the Beast album, from 1981/82. Just have it play while you are cooking and let the words and music tell their stories. And its not like death or thrash metal, its actually melodic and something with syncing with your brain waves... it does for me. And personally I think that just because its in synchronization with the brain, that this is why they are sooo successful with Sooo many people... billions can't be wrong. KNow what Im sayin? ;) Good luck.

    Body Count.

Then back track to Suicidal Tendencies.

    Once it settles in.

    Excel.

After that, you're ready for some Bad Brains post Rock For Light.

Once you're comfortable with all these, back track back to Bad Brains first few albums and enjoy the ride.

From there you'll be able to handle, Wasted Youth, Black Flag, Adolescents, Descendents, Circle Jerks, Middle Class, The Plugz, The Zeros, Dead Kennedy's, Circle One, Germs, and even The Stooges.

I just introduced you to the world of punk.

Source(s): Good metal bands tho, Witchfinder General, Saint Vitus, and the almighty Angel Witch but honestly you gotta really be into that kinda stuff to be into it. Punk is universal. My 3 dollars.

if you've been a hiphop head you may want to look at some lighter stuff before diving into heavy metal. If you're reallyconvinced you want to listen to metal try alternative metal/hard rock bands(pierce the veil, black veil brides, avenged seven fold, all time low, breaking benjamin, my chemical romance, asking alexandria, sleeping with sirens, three days grace, bring me the horizon, rise against, a day to remember, bullet for my valentine, and disturbed) or even rap-rock fusion ones such as hollywood undead and falling in reverse (FiR has a mix of rap-rock and just plain hard rock) good luck and hope you enjoy it!
