    a/3 - 1/6 - 3/7 <<< not an equation so you cannot solve. It helps if you give directions with a problem.

    I guess you want to find a common denominator and combine. CD is 42

    14a / (3x14) - (7x1) / (7x6) - (6x3) / (6x7)

    = 14a / 42 - 7/42 - 18/42

    = (14a - 25)/42 <<< answer
