What would happen to a nuclear reactor if there was a EMP strike ?

The control circuitry might be damaged. Which could render normal control ineffective.

EMP would have little effect on the reactor itself.

Even a high neutron bombardment would at most trigger a small increase in output for a negligible period of time.

And electromagnetics does not trigger reactions.

If there was something electrically holding the radioactive rods it might fall into the water and basically neutralize the reactor, or at least as long as it is inside the reactor.

Automatic safety system, kill rods drop into the core and crash stop it.

Very expensive to remove all the fuel rods and check everything but no China Syndrome.

I read that the cooling system would be completely shut down because of no battery backup (they would be dead) no ele. So would things be out of control ?
