what is this plant,,,,,we are inhouston texas, it is growing at the base of a tree about 3 feet tall?

    It is called Malvaviscus arboreus var. dummondii or Turk's cap

    edit: It is a Texas native and mostly evergreen, usual height is 2-3feet but has been known to sometimes reach 9'. Grows in shad to sun but, does better in shade to part sun. Drought tolerant. May freeze down in harsh winters and comes back.

    It looks like you either leave the tiny tree,or possiblely probagate it to a large pot,or different spot outdoors, depending on the spesies. Dz
