Why does Yahoo hide answers that don't support liberal views?

It's a new Yahoo "relevancy" filter that does not work properly.

Try using words that are in the question.

It doesn't hide answers based on liberal or conservative views.

Answers are displayed, ranked, and hidden based on 'Relevance' to the question. An answer which contains several/many of the same keywords/phrases as the questions is deemed 'relevant' and will be displayed higher than answers which contain fewer or none of the same words/phrases.

Also, answers which are very short ('Yes' or 'No', for example) as well as those which are overly-long are more likely to be hidden.

It has nothing to do with viewpoint. What you are seeing is a beta test of the "relevance" system. Except for the hiding answers part, it is a feature users asked to get. The new system does an internal "google" review of the answers and determines the best ones. It is probably a keyword search (we think, staff are silent). So the only thing you can do is give a complete sentence, detailed answer using the same keywords as the question. You can always change the sort.

well as i read this question and got ready to answer it on my computer Summertime an Iamthetruths answers were both hidden. Now i know Summertime sides with libs and I don't think Iamthetruth is conservative. and i usually support the left and have had my answers hidden.

If you want to get around the filter Yahoo is using try capitalizing the first letter of every word in your answer. For some reason this causes your answer to be seen as more relevant. I think that if Yahoo is going to have different sorting methods that you should be able to chose the one you want instead of having it default to relevance.

I haven't noticed that, but I'd image it was because those answers were reported by another user.

I see absolutely no pattern whatsoever to hidden answers. Maybe the idiots at Y!A had something in mind, but like everything else recently it is not working.
