How do I convert a drive that was formerly a bootable drive into an external storage drive?
I removed a HDD from an old PC that was toast. The drive is still good. I have an external drive enclosure, so I figured I would use as an external storage drive. My pc does not show it in my computer, but I can see it show up in the "computer manage" portion of my computer. Any ideas?
alright, I see the answers, but im not real sure the details of how to accomplish it. can someone walk me through it?

Yo! Hawkeye man!! go Hawks!! Is Rudock playing this Sat??
Okay, by bootable drive, you mean like a hard drive in a computer?
Easily done to make into an external storage drive.
Find out what kind of drive it is, not the brand name. But like SATA or LATA, and then on ebay, or if you've got some used computer store around, like in Cedar rapids, or even in Iowa City, the Goodwill store SE of U of I, down on Hwy6, next to Salv Army store, has really good computer store in it. Get a plastic case to fit around it, an external case, and the case has built in a usb cord, which after you insert the hard drive into it, when you plug into another computer USB port, then it will act like an external hard drive. Very easy.
So either ebay, or call the nearby used computer stores. You might take in the hard drive if you can, so they can match it up properly for you.

If it was boot-able, then You had an OS on the drive. . . 1st . go into your setup and make sure it
is no longer listed as a boot device then . . . Just format the drive
