Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Why is Yahoo! making Yahoo! Answers harder and harder to use?

What are they thinking??

It used to be easy and intuitive to ask and answer questions here.

Now the question form is way over on the right instead of easily accessible in the center. You have to know to click on Details if you want to write anything more than a header.

The input boxes for both question details and answers are small, making it harder to see what you've written.

They are removing information. Asker names are no longer listed; you must hover over the avatar space to see them, and to do that, you must open the question. We can no longer filter on country, and we can't even see the asker's country any more.

Commenting when you choose a best answer now requires you to click on a Comment link if you want to enter a comment, and if you want to see what the chooser wrote, you again have to click to display the comment. Why all the extra clicks?

Now they've even done away with putting questions in reverse chronological order, so you see the same ones from days ago. What's with that? How can people answer in minutes if they can't see recent questions? Not to mention the bottomless scroll, so you can't easily navigate back to a section of questions, the way you could when there were page numbers.

NONE of this is an improvement. What are they doing??

You can't tell which questions have been awarded Best Answer either, and removing the option of voting for a Best Answer when the asker fails to reward one has left the site littered even more with unresolved questions (although I notice that HAS slowed down the point-gaming that most of the million+ points participants have been doing with their 99% Best Answer percentages).

Overall I would rate every step Yahoo! Answers has made since it abandoned the Green format as a step backwards. I can only imagine why they continue to make poorly designed, poorly thought-out changes is that someone there is just so positive they Have A Better Idea. It's the same reason why Coke came up with New Coke 30 years ago and why George Lucas put Jar-Jar Binks in Star Wars.

Because they think that they're improving the site by making all these changes when they're really making it worse.

They have shortened how long your question can be too. I can barely get a thought out before the box turns red
