Before you begin: To determine the type of network to be prepared to learn or hardware or cables that you need, see the need to set up a home network. This topic contains information about the different types of networks (also known as network technologies), and the hardware requirements for each type. To learn more about the process of preparing the entire network, see Starting from here to set up a home network in Windows 8.1.

If the router was working before you just connect the new computer and use it! Yes it really is that easy!

Routers are not dependent on computers they work all by themselves. Now if you are just installing a new router, connect by ethernet to one of the lan ports, go to http://192.168.2.1/ login and setup the router!

Or even easier go to Belkin support! http://www.belkin.com/us/support
