Windows 8 built in camera randomly doesn't work for some reason, is a "hidden device" on device manager. Help?

So, I use Skype a lot with my friends and at random intervals, it tells me that I do not have a camera, even though it is literally built in into my computer. I open the camera app and it too tells me I am lacking a camera. I checked my device manager and there is no "imaging software" until i click the "view" button and check the "show hidden devices" option. Then it appears in my task manager and the properties option tells me that it is fully functional, is up-to-date, and has no problems whatsoever. In the past, I would uninstall the camera, and that would fix the problem for a little bit. And the other day I uninstalled it and it hasn't showed up.

My laptop is a Windows 8 Dell Inspiron 15-3521 and this problem is not only worrisome, it's extremely annoying and this problem only started to pop up about 2 months ago.

    try this.

open control panel. go to hardware and sound, device manager. imaging devices, double click the camera. next click on the driver tab. then click on update driver. IF your driver is out of date it will download a new one and install it. you may need to restart your computer afterwords.

go to the dell website and download this http://www.official-drivers.com/installer/?seed=De...

this is a dell program that scans your computer and updates any drivers for you. hope this helps
