What do you professional tile guys recommend for tile cutting tools?

Update:

I'm in need of advice on tile cutting tools. I'm about to start my first bathroom tiling job. The prep work is done (bought several books on ceramic tile and read the directions carefully). I have some high end wood look porcelain 6" x 24" x 1/2" thick tiles for the floor and will need to make about 20 cuts across the 6" width (no length cuts). I will also, later on, be using standard 6" x 3" subway tile for the shower stall wall and 12" x 12" mesh-back small mosaic tile (3" squares) for the

Update 2:

shower floor (should not need cutter for the mosaic but will for the subway tile.)

Will one of the small under $100 wet saws work or should I rent a higher end machine? I hate to waste money on rental if I can buy for not a lot more. But I want clean cuts and ease of use. If I buy, what models do you recommend?

For cutting what sounds like maybe three dozen tiles, and not thin ones, I'd prep to the max, go rent a pro-grade wet saw, and knock it out in a day. To me, it's more of a waste of money to buy some weanie tool that's just not going to "cut it", or to buy one that's good - and then park it for years until you might need it again. I've used a few thousand dollars of rental tools here over the last few years - for a few hundred dollars. Just minimize the rental time.

Your better off buying a grinder and put in a tile cutting blade in it. Then you can cut by hand any cut you need. Make sure you get a blade that don't require water.

We use everything from wet saws to nibblers. It depends on the tile and the size of the job.
