I'm a Vietnam vet (SGT), ex lead guitar rocker, Master's level former mental health professional, 35 year DIY (six houses plus friends & relatives), hardware guy (Ace). Not "Mr. Expert" - my screw-up list would be way longer! I can help you here, that's a good day. If I can learn something from others posting here, even better. The pic, by the way, is a red-tail hawk, like one I see a few times a month, but this one is "Pale Male" in NYC. Look up the story. Get out in the countryside, watch, and listen. Good for the soul. Live long and prosper.
Electric range malfunction - ideas?
We have a GE Tru Temp electric range in a rental, which for the second time in as many months has gone gonzo in the oven, out of control in an oven set at 400 degrees. after about 20-25 minutes, and showing an F2 code up top. Gets hotter.
Unplugging it kills it, but even after all the controls were shut off, the upper heating element came right back on when replugged, so pulled the plug again. Using my magically transposed superstitious behavior from handling AV and stage gear, I then repeatedly rotated all rotary switches, having cleared any electronic commands and assuming it was crud in the 'mechanicals. 'Back in the game, working OK.
No way I'm going to buy a new one, and the landlord's maintenance is a poor joke. GE related websites suggest some possibles, but I thought I'd stop here, too.
For the curious, it was four frozen chicken pot pies (400 for 55 min). Ya, I know that's crap, but I like 'em...
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs3 years agoBlues - Who's doing great new blues these days on an acoustic guitar?
Sure, there's a number that do classic blues covers, but I'm looking here for newish stuff (new to this old guy is like since 2000).
Maybe Warren Haynes? Gimme anything close to that guy, and I'm grateful.

3 AnswersBlues3 years agoBlues in my car today, so what's going on with you in your ride?
Ya, I know it's an R&B tune (Marvin Gay), but this old thing somehow wound up in my car today. Buddy Guy 'exactly what I wanted to hear, just thumping it, with Some Kinda Wonderful...
Almost ran a red light hitting repeat...
2 AnswersBlues3 years agoWhere are they now? So many great long-standing music contributors I don't see anymore...?
here or Performing Arts... Dave, Harry, Opiner, Norm, Guitar Picker, Nasty Troll of Infinite Wisdom, Russell E, JCR, OU812, and others. This world seems a smaller place without them. If any actually see this, know that you are missed and not forgotten. Happy Holidays.

Some sort of magic OS trick or command? I'd be happy to update to any relevant Q.
5 AnswersYahoo Answers3 years agoSilly question on shoes - how do you tie them so they won't work loose?
Old man here who's been getting New Balance cross-trainers for like 20 years, because the selection of widths makes them like custom-made (for duck feet, 13 4E). My new ones are doing the same thing as always, ties coming loose just walking around. Basic kid-type knot, pulled very tight, but then waaaaah in minutes when really active. So tell me tell me, what's the "secret"?
2 AnswersRunning3 years agoWorst, most annoying commercials on TV would be?
I'd go at the two idiots in the Sonic drive-in, the insanely boring Progressive insurance ads with "Flo", and the endless ads by drug companies, advising you to tell your doctor what to script for you.
Late night cable is fair game, too...
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys3 years agoKids hot toys - Is it over the top?
Talking about this a little last night with my younger brother, I occurred to me I had no idea what the market-movers are these days. Here's one bit I found: http://money.cnn.com/gallery/technology/2017/09/26... ...
A hundred dollars a pop looks common. Wow. I remember helping to string popcorn on a string for our little tree's decoration. And we used to sing songs while popping it. No complaints - far from it.
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys3 years agoAlvarez RD8C guitar - 'worth it?
Looking to amp-up for acoustic open-mike events, and just wrapped up on asking for advice on a pickup for my Yammy. Looks like the good stuff is between $150-200, so am reconsidering a used acoustic-electric.
Chanced on a used Avarez RD8C, a single cut-away axe with a primitive EQ, asking price $150, with a hard case. Thing checks out OK, only obvious problem old strings. (I've had guitars for many decades, including a couple Alvarez.)

After years of retirement from performing, I'm (completely nuts and) working on a little set for a local open mic thing for fun. Using a Yamaha FG800. Thinking about a SD Woodie, but will waddle into a good local music shop to mess wit stuff. No way I'm gonna get an acoustic-electric. Yeah, I can mic it, but please help on gear. Thanks!

7 AnswersRock and Pop4 years agoHow can I get the citation for an awarded Bronze Star?
My cousin died last week, a Vietnam 4th Infantry vet 70-71, and a fine man. Nobody in the family has the citation - few even knew of his receiving it until recent years; he rarely talked of the war. Any good help would be greatly appreciated.
