Silly question on shoes - how do you tie them so they won't work loose?

Old man here who's been getting New Balance cross-trainers for like 20 years, because the selection of widths makes them like custom-made (for duck feet, 13 4E). My new ones are doing the same thing as always, ties coming loose just walking around. Basic kid-type knot, pulled very tight, but then waaaaah in minutes when really active. So tell me tell me, what's the "secret"?

Update:

OK , six days in, three answers. BA to Oracle, based on field testing. 'Works.

Update 2:

Post-BA note for those seeking similar info: Replacing the stock fat/soft/long laces with 45" Kiwi "Outdoor" round laces cured the whole bit. Simple bow knot, which stays snug. Happy Holidays.

Make real large loops when you tie the bow, then tie the loops in a simple knot.

  • Double knot your shoe laces with a bow type knot, they shouldn't come undone.
