Child Support Warrant help?
I live in Florida but my family just told me that I had a warrant on me in GA for child support. I got out of the ARMY and started another job. The job didnt pay much and the order was still very high because it was never changed from my high military pay so the arrearage started getting bigger and bigger because I couldnt afford the full amount. I have since then lost my job and now only make $150 a week cash but my employer does background checks once a year. a few questions. How do I take care of this without being locked up? Will a child support warrant show up on a federal background check/local for Florida if it was issued in GA? Do I just turn myself in and get locked up and have no way of getting out because I have no family or friends with money? I was going to try and go to school down here and use all of my GI Bill money to pay all the arrearage and try to get up to date with the payments but now I'm afraid that if I try and get a Florida ID then they will notify the police and lock me up right there. Please help. I'm not a bad guy just been having some bad luck and situations lately. Thank you in advance.

Child support is based on both mom/dads income to determine amount owed.
Once you got out of the army and got a job paying much less, is when you should have gone to the court to get the child support lower, and maybe avoiding the past due accumulating, and then subsequently losing that job
You sound like a responsible person who wants to do the right thing, which goes in your favor.
My guess is, that you will need the help of a GA lawyer to get this resolved, since the warrant is from GA and many lawyers in Fl may not be licensed to practice in GA, or, you dont want to pay a lawyer in FL their hourly rate to drive to GA to handle your case.
Make an appointment (in person) with a GA lawyer asap. The lawyer might be able to get the warrant removed, pending a resolution of your back child support. The lawyer should also be able to get a modification of your child support lower now based on your current and past income. A lot of people have a "soft" spot when they know that your served your country loyally, and may help in your favor.
The key is, you need to get this warrant off your record, since this may prevent you from finding more jobs in the future.

@Blubber So if I try and get my Florida ID and go to college and use my GI Bill and pay it with my extra college money would that be a plausible solution. Or will they make me stay in GA?...the total amount I owe monthly is around $850 a month...my GI Bill after school expenses is around $1200. I'm currently around $6,000-$7,000 in arrearage. So I could make the full monthly payments and have the arrearage payed off in a year and be caught up. But I dont know if they will allow me to stay in Florida and do that since the order is from GA.

Delinquent child support never goes away.
If your income has decreased, your best would be to petition the courts for a reduction in your child support obligation because of a change in circumstances (you make less money).
As for going to jail. They will not keep you in there forever because you cannot support your child being locked up; you will get an opportunity to explain your situation. As soon as you come up with a plausible explanation on how you are going to catch up, they will let you out of jail. That may only take a couple of days.
Good luck

Yes, any warrant will show up.
You need to go to court and get the support amount changed due to your current status. You should have done that before.
