How to live in a car?

I hate and can't stand livig with my parents. I want my own place but I'm 18 and it's hard to afford a room in the city that I love in. I'm willing to live in my car for now until I can save up for a room. I'm thinking about taking my showers/changing clothes at the gym or something and food isn't a problem to me because of so much rent money I saved. I'm really okay with this right now I got plenty of space in my car with nice comfortable pillows and blankets. My area is always never cold so yeah. Also I will get tinted windows so no cops will find out I'm living in my car. I'm also going to get a gun for protection. I have one question though, like where is a good place to park a car at night? It can't be super deserted but a parking lot would be nice. Do they toll away cars at night?

Don't let your car get too crowded!!! Travel light so you are less of a target to everyone.

Where I live you're not allowed to have tinted windows unless you're like a cop check where you live about that.

Yes they do tow away cars in certain areas,

I remember me and my mom just left the car in the parking lot for three hours and they towed the car.

But I've heard people leaving their car at Walmart for days

People will only tow the car if it's abandoned or appears abandoned,

People are going to eventually find out you live in your car it can become obvious.

But I don't think the cops will bother you much since you are not a minor anymore but seen as an adult now,

TLiving in a car is no picnic . There are several issues that should make that step a VERY last resort. I should know, I’ve had to do it twice during my life time, Believe me when I tell you, it’s very uncomfortable place to find yourself in

Finding a place to park all night without getting a ticket or having a cop scare the stew out of you by banging on the window when you are asleep, can get very difficult very quick. It would not be a good idea to keep going to the same place either. The neighbors may get jittery about your presence; and you’ll be advertizing your situation to the wrong people. Feeling safe you’re trying to sleep is a very hard thing to do. You are alert to every sound, so real rest is hard to come by. Part of where you are going to park come bathroom privileges. If you go the same more than a few times the owners get nervous wondering why you are always coming there to use the bathroom. They could call the cops and/or forbid you from using it by saying “Customers Only”

The police WILL notice you if you go back to the same place more than a couple times, especially in a parking lot. They look for abandoned and stolen cars in parking lots, besides which parking lots are usually private property. Businesses that use the parking lot for customers can get mighty suspicious mighty quick it they see you there more than customers would normally be. The only way a parking lot may be a be okay for a short while (three days at best) is near a highway; the reason being that they can’t kick a sleepy driver out and back out on the road. They could be held liable for not allowing the driver to get some shut eye if he/she had an accident.

Depending on a gun for safety is not the wisest of ideas. Spending nights sleeping in a car tends to make a person jittery and paranoid. Under those conditions it is all too easy to shoot someone on accident, and God forbid it’s a cop who’s waking you up suddenly by tapping on the glass. Also, the gun may be a bad idea too if a cop sees it and not waiting for an explanation or some such, decides to shoot you instead because he/she sees a gun in your hand or car.

Another issue is food. How long can you deal with eating lunchables and going to Mickky D’s. Having no place to prepare a real meal gets old quick. Having a decent meal a couple times a day gets difficult, and drains the bank account fast.

Another issue is that entertainment options are quite limited, especially when it gets dark. You can't use the dome light without either, draining your battery, or using up gas.

I’d think long and hard about the living in the car thing, you may end up finding out that you jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

here was a time in my life When I had to do just that. . There are several points you should consider befroe

taking such redica actions. l umber 1 was finding a place to park all night without getting a ticket, and feeling safe when I went to sleep. I was alert to ever soud around me, so I didn't sleep. Oh yeah, I had one other issue; I found very entertainment options, especially when it got dark. Can't read by the car light without either, draining your battery, of using up gas. Think hard about that decision.

1.-Do you have a license to own a gun and keep it in your car?

2.- If you have "so much" money saved is that not enough for a room?

3.- Wouldn't tinted windows attract the attention of the police thinking you're a criminal?

4.- In many parking lots they tow away vehicles.

You realize cops can see through the front windshield, right? And that a car parked in on the street, parking lot, etc will be investigated whether they can see through the windows or not? And that tinting your windows enough to not see through them is an automatic reason for investigation, and is considered suspicious activity that doesn't need a warrant for searching?

Just rent a room with roommates. Your car is going to get towed constantly. And reported to the police who can arrest you for loitering and vagrancy as well as trespassing. And your car will also be towed. One simple tow and court fees will cost more than a months rent. So you won't have the car for long.

Find roommates and get a real place to live.

Up to you what you wanna do with your life chick, tho living in a car doesn't sound bad at all. Better then sleeping on a bench in downtown somewhere, If you feel that strongly about your parents, then go for it. But, just make sure you think about it deeply before you make your decision.
