If the Bible is the complete truth why are there so many versions?

The Bible is written in Paleo=Hebrew and Koine Greek. Languages that are no longer used by anyone and unknown to 99% of the people in the world today. If the Bible was left in the original language, no one could read it.

So it is translated into English (and over 2000 other languages.). If you have ever done an translating, you know that it is rare that there is an exact and perfect match for two sentences in two different languages. There always has to be some choices made on the best way to translate a phrase from one language to another. If you are too word for word literal you end up with something that make no sense in the new language. (You have seen the dumb translations of things that are literally correct but totally wrong.) but you can also err on the other side and make the translation understandable but no longer faithful to the original text.

So there are different "versions" because different scholars make different choices in how to translate the text. That has nothing to do with whether or not the original text is "truthful".

It is a GOOD thing that there are more than one translation available, That way no one group or person can alter or slant the text. You have the text as translated by more than one scholar so that they have to keep it honest. The existence of multiple translations actually argues FOR, not AGAINST the text being reliable and true.

When you translate something - there are certainly going to be various opinions as to what is the proper English word here or there....

That is why you have different translations.

We do not believe the translations are inerrant - just the original manuscripts.

The Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic, & Greek. Unless the Bible you read is in these languages, you are reading a translation. Ever hear of the expression "lost in translation?" In some translations them true meaning gets lost, and sometimes distorted... The Original Bible is true and by comparing different translations sometimes you get the message (pun intended)...

It's not a complete truth it's just a man made book that changes over time to add other people's achievement and remove all the bad things about their religion.

Different versions occur with different religions because they changed each one to suit their religion .

And why were so many books removed?
