its hard to explain this 2d with no speech describing what is happening so i have included a link on this topic, examsolutions saved my life.
(4-5x²)/(x+2)
..................-5x +10
x+2 | -5x² + 0x + 4.... --> put into long division format
...........-5x² -10x......... --> -5x*(x+2)
...................10x+4..... --> (-5x² + 0x + 4)-(-5x² -10x)
...................10x +20.. --> 10(x+2)
.........................-16... --> (10x+4)-(10x +20)
therefore the answer is -5x +10 -16/x+2
