Why do so many liberals despise Christianity (article provided)?
Please don't answer with the usual kneejerk reactions. I am asking you to really think this question through after you read this article
As I suspected liberals refuse to read things that challenge their beliefs, and that is what the LIBERAL author was saying:
Why would missionaries risk their lives in Africa helping Ebola patients?
And why is liberal dogma so important that they can't understand?
So much Liberal "HATE" !!! I think that was exactly the author's point!!!!!

It puts them within the realm of Morality. We all know what morals they have. They have a problem with hearing it or shoved down their throat but have no problem shoving their disbelief down yours.

The problem with this article is that it takes a few specific incidents, writings, etc. and jumps to a conclusion. Nothing in here suggests that "so many liberals despise Christianity" except that the author says it.
First, and you can call this knee-jerk, but there are many liberals that are Christian. In fact, Christianity is based on a "liberal" in the sense than Christ went against the orthodoxy. He did not accept that "we need to keep things as they were" but that we must have change. No, he wasn't just a liberal, He was the most influential progressive ever.
Second, the conclusion that liberals hate Christianity because they are more accepting of different people (in this case, homosexuals) is wrong. Christianity teaches loving the sinner. So, even if homosexuality is a sin, we still must love the person. Therefore, we can honestly say that conservatives (or anyone for that matter) that shuns a homosexual is not doing what the Christian faith teaches. No, that doesn't mean that we have to like homosexuality (the supposed sin), but how does it serves God's purpose to say "you can't get an education [here] if you're gay"?
Third, not everyone is a Christian. Part of the basis of articles like this is the assumption that Christianity is the proven one-true-religion and that government policy needs to be based on it. Such is the case, again, with the college in the article. If a school wants to have Christian values as part of it's requirements, that's fine. But then they shouldn't expect government money. Likewise, if a school wants to enforce requirements on their students to lie a "atheistic life," then that school should not receive government money.
I could go on and on. Bottom line, though, is that you should not take an article like this to be some sort of evidence of a wide-spread hatred of Christianity.
Perhaps it's more a liberal wide-spread hatred of hatred. That's how I view it.

The opinions of a few do not the opinions of the majority make. Most liberals I know (and I know many) do not despise Christianity. Very outspoken, narrow-minded Christian conservatives who seek to impose their fundamentalist morality on others makes us uncomfortable and we may speak out against that, but that isn't Christianity as a whole, that is a minority within the larger group, just as a few very 'over the top' liberals are against Christianity in any way.

Sounds like it's the conservatives who despise Christianity (read the article yourself).
The LIBERAL author was defending the missionaries, "AS AN ATHEIST, I try to make choices based on evidence and reason. So until we’re finally ready to invest heavily in secular medicine for Africa, I SUGGEST WE STAND ASIDE AND LET GOD DO HIS WORK."
And he points out: "When an infected American missionary was flown back to the United States for treatment, [CONSERVATIVE] Donald Trump griped that do-gooders trying to save Africa should be prepared to “suffer the consequences.” [CONSERVATIVE] Ann Coulter called the doctor “idiotic,” and asked of his mission to Africa, “What was the point?” "
You should read the actual Slate article, not some blogger's comment. (Bloggers are naked people typing in their mom's basement. Journalists are actually paid to write.)

As a conservative, this is just conservative BS... Liberals are against teaching religion in schools, but I'm against teaching evolution because this higher level science doesn't even need to be taught until you are in college. Anyhow, political BS will be political BS... and this article is full of it.

Liberals are Christians too. It is quite possible that many of them do despise the practices of far right "christians" who in fact dismiss the Christ of the New Testament in favor of a cherry picked Old Testament to support their fear and hatred.

The fact that some crackpot says it doesn't make it true. Most of the liberals I know are church-attending Christians. They don't, however, insist that others live by their rules.

GOD'S WORD IS AWESOME! Read HIS answer to your question.
John 3:19 KJV
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Spamming a bigoted and offensive 'article' and then asking us not to be as knee jerky as it's writer so clearly was, would be a great example of religious hypocrisy.
Thanks for adding to the mountains of evidence that prove that religion = BAD morals.
