Is this normal behavior?
My boyfriend torments me on a daily basis. When I am upset with him, and shut away in my room to avoid his behavior, he sits in another room and talks about me loud enough for me to hear it.
If I don't want to talk to him he will walk around saying "I wish my girlfriend ___" or "My girlfriend____". He's not talking to me, just about me, loudly, to no one. We're the only two people in the house.
I don't just shut myself away. I ask several times for him to stop whatever behavior, and he ignores it.
This past instance I was working on homework- which is pretty important- and was in one room with him continuously asking him to stop, and then moved to my own bedroom- where I was still being bothered by him because he tries so hard to get the attention.

He may think it's not normal to shut oneself away instead of discussing a problem. Clearly he's trying to get your attention. Is there no way to work things out other than ignoring it and hoping it goes away?

Leave him. It's called verbal abuse, and it doesn't take much for it to escalate to physical abuse. If you think "oh that would never happen to me" or "he would never hurt me" think again.
