Are they changing Yahoo! Mail to require mobile phone numbers?
When I log in to my primary Yahoo! Mail account, it wants me to change my password and give it my mobile phone number. I'm not going to be giving Yahoo! any phone number, but I'm afraid that one day I suddenly will get locked out of my account.
So today I got an email marked as being from "Web Services" with the subject line "Update your Mail Account Immediately!" I'm guessing it's spam, so I'm not opening it, but I'm afraid that it might be Yahoo! finally enforcing the phone number requirement. But if it was, wouldn't it say it's from Yahoo! ?
Anyone know anything about this, either the email or Yahoo!'s plans to require a mobile number? I've had this account for years in good standing and shouldn't have to provide them with this info to keep using it.

I did google to find out now it look like that is the new way as that is the way as g-mail account ask for mobile no that is to verify that it is your account so if someone hacks say into your account you and only you has the right password and can give the right answer's to the questions to say it's your account .Now unless you did go onto google and type in yahoo account and forgotten password then it's not spam so if you did not do so then best to not open now as of yet I have not had such a e-mail so like you I have had my Account for years and I can not see that anyone of us showed have to give this info to keep using other than to verify it's our account like I did say .So at this moment in time I would save it by putting into a folder down the side where you send your e-mails from keep as reference and ask your friends if they have had the same e-mail and go from there if the answers no then put into spam .As it does seem a bit strange them asking you to change your password now that does not seem right at all but if you do forget and do change or anyone of us does it look's like they maybe going down the same route as gmail as they do ask for mobile no so till you or we do best not just incase as I had a e-mail from Apple asking to verify my account asking for card details now I did not do it as alarm bells were ringing so I went into apple ask them if they sent such e-mail and I was told no just delete it as they go about asking questions like that in a move secure way so when I got home that day I just deleted it .So I hope that give's you some help on the matter.
