Is it wrong to destroy a corrupt society?

Update:

Wow... Interesting responses.

I was just reading Ibsen's Enemy of the People, and Dr. Stockman says, something along the lines of "it is not wrong to destroy a corrupt society" so I randomly asked this question...

Nice to see people's interpretations... XD

Only if reform is not possible. However, such societies habitually destroys themselves. Think of a mighty oak. It looks sound and strong. Until a wind blows hard enough to shatter the trunk. Having rotted out. I would suggest the best course is to minimize the effect of societal collapse. The more people preserved, the easier to mend and build a new society. The easier to retain what was actually strong and good of the old society. Destruction brings on a dark age.

End of a corrupt society does not always mean the end of the People. The French survived their monarchs.

Yes, because that creates it's own kind of corruption. Better to change it from within.

Besides, who are you to decide what is corrupt and what is best for others?

Some people think our current government is corrupt, but all for different reasons, depending on your POV. So what do you replace the corrupt society with? You don't have the right to decide that for other people.

Force may be necessary when a society cannot be changed through internal reform or democratic processes. It is also possible that the new society may be just as corrupt or worse than the one that preceded it. So it is important to consider whether or not the ends justify the means in those situations.

Change it. Women deserve equal representation in Political Position's, and so do the men, and equal pay. That would change the Presidency and add a Co-Captain..on. Showing, having, and doing what it takes to have equal rights. Then the corruption goes away on it's own and becomes respectable.

The people were deliberately having others pay to be infected. That was a society based upon fraud. It is not as clear a line when you have a society of people of good will who happen to disagree. ( yes, I know, this hasn't happened in the US since the Teabaggers came along, but still....).

    It's a moot question.

Corrupt society hates and destroys first.

They are stronger than you are.

If you are righteous, they will hate you.

Corruption might die from laughing at you.

What corruption? Society is functioning exactly as it should. Everything the state does is done in the interest of capital.

It is not being destroyed its being intentionally dismantled by people 51% of the country at one point voted them into office. There are 6 dead children now and 700 hospitalized with this "mystery respiratory illness" which the CDC refuses to PUBLICLY say where it came form but inferred it in an Aug 2013 Report about "Respiratory Illness among Unaccompanied Latin American Children". And now apparently they want EBOLA here too.

a society cannot be "corrupt." Individual persons may be immoral, unethical, irresponsible, but an entire society cannot be labeled that way. I reject the idea of communal responsibility.
