Okay, so my friend's family shares the same apple account, so if i message her, her whole family gets the text. How can she change the settings so it sends it it only to her?

If your friend has her own email that's different from the apple account email (if not get her to make one) then get her to go to her Settings app and scroll down to 'Messages', tap Messages then scroll down to and tap 'Send & Receive' then tap 'Add Another Email' and the rest is straight forward.
